These patches look to be exactly the same, minus different writing on the patches themselves as the generic Rite Aid brand. The box itself says that it's for dispensary only and not for resale so I'm wondering how these are being sold here, but I digress.Compared to other brands I find that these stay on my skin a lot better than the clear ones (these are tan in color). After weeks of using these tan colored patches I've found that they don't come off during sleeping, physical activity, and showers which is a huge improvement over the clear ones I had been using. For the price and how well these stay on I highly recommend this particular brand.Just an FYI from some of the questions I've read - Typically one absorbs about 1mg-2mg of nicotine when smoking a cigarette so if you smoke three or less a day you shouldn't use any step of patches because you'll then become more addicted to nicotine which defeats the purpose of the patches. For three or less cigarettes a day, stick to the gum or lozenges of 2mg each. The purpose of the patches from step one is to go from a pack a day to the patch without noticing much difference. So in theory at step three that would be the equivalent of 3-7 cigarettes and then going down to nothing.By breaking the physical aspect of the addiction for many weeks, the thought is that even at 7mg of nicotine you can then be off of it entirely.
I've been a smoker for 64 years. I was smoking about 1 1/2 packs a day & decided to quit about a month ago. I purchased these patches & immediately dropped to 8 cigarettes a day & went down to 2 a day until I decided to throw the cigarettes away 2 weeks ago. I also purchased a cheap brand of patches on Amazon but they didn't work for me at all so I returned them & ordered more Habitrol 21 mg patches. Today is my 12th day without a cigarette. The cravings are getting less every day. I also use hard candy to help when I get a craving. I'll finish these 21 mg patches & then I'll order my 28 day 14 mg/7 mg & 2 mg patches. These patches really work for me. I don't recommend the cheaper no name brand patches~~you probably won't have the success you could have with the Habitrol. You do have to have a sure desire to quit as it isn't easy.
So much better than the square, clear patches! And the price for 28 patches is the same as what I paid for 14 store brand patches. If you are serious about quitting, these are a great aid, but don't expect any miracles. These are wonderful for helping me forget to light up, especially when I'm doing something, like having a coffee, talking on the phone, or working on the computer. That's the hard part of quitting - the habit - much more so than the nicotine addiction. So here's some tips that helped me. I put it on late in the day on clean, dry skin. They stick much better if there's no surface oils. I have had to use a small piece of adhesive tape if it starts to lift on the edge. The reason I use a fresh patch late afternoon, is I've found that by leaving it on overnight, I don't find myself reaching for a smoke first thing in the morning with my coffee. The first day or so of use, you'll probably think they are not working, so remember that this is a controlled and slow release of nicotine and let your body adjust. I do have redness when I remove the patch, but a little cortisone cream handles that. If you have really committed to quit, these will help. If you're not determined to quit, nothing will work. Good luck to all you quitters out there!
From the research I have done on Nicotine, Nicotine itself is not bad for you. It is the inhalation of combusted plant matter that is terrible for your body. I have been using the patches and have been feeling alert and focused instead of irritable, which is how I would get if I did not absorb Nicotine through either a cigarette or chewing tobacco. I have tried the gum and it tastes terrible, for me it was almost like swallowing chewing tobacco saliva. Nicotine consumption through the stomach is not good, if you were to make a tea out if it, from what I have read online, it can be or is toxic. A reddit user reported it as viable and stated he brewed and consumed tea with cigarette tobacco. Other forms say it is absolute toxic and can even kill you. I would not go as far as to say it would kill you as some primitive tribes brew a unadulterated version of Tobacco leaf as tea for part of a mystical or spiritual journey. As can be found on Youtube, one person shares her experience in such a journey, "seven days of drinking Tobacco juices and a mixture of plants (that the shaman wont reveal, besides male garlic) every morning. Undergoing a radical spiritual initiation and transformation." Video title: Tobacco Diet!!! Cleansing the system with plant medicine. For the record this lady is VERY spiritual and I would not recommend listening to her as far as medical advice. The point is the brewed tobacco tea did not kill her... but it seemed to made her sick or perhaps spiritually enlightened as how she would put it.
Lots of patches just don’t stay on your skin. These do! They withstand sweat better than any other brand I’ve tried. Even the N brand- these are better. Just don’t try to use on top of moisturizers. These are just as effective as the more expensive N brand too. If you’re serious about quitting, they really help. I recommend putting the first one on before bed the night before quit day. The nicotine needs time to build up in your system. Just a note- some people experience vivid dreams, so you may need to take it off at night. GOOD LUCK!
While some foods have nicotine, these patches provide when you dont get enough. Search on advantages of nicotine for your body. It's not about smoking , its about how it can help you at the cell level.
These work! Don’t get me wrong. They definitely help with the cravings but for me, they just weren’t enough. They do stick well but didn’t when it came to a sweaty workout at the gym.
Box was slightly crushed upon arrival, but product inside was fine. The instructions say that you can't cut these or any other nicotine patch, but in fact, you can - the patch is a solid all the way through, so there's nothing that might leak or drain if you cut them. I cut these into thirds, since the price of the 21mg and the 7mg patches is virtually the same per piece and therefore, by cutting them, I pay a third of the price per mg. The cut sides don't lay as flat against my skin, however, so I do have to put a small piece of medical tape over it to keep the patch in place, or else it peels off. Worth it for me!I should add that I have never smoked in my life, and therefore, I don't know how useful they are as a smoking cessation aid. I use these as a treatment for ADHD (you can search "NIH nicotine ADHD" to see studies on this, since I think any links I might post will be deleted), and they work about as well as Adderall, but without the side effects I was getting from Adderall (personally, I had elevated heart rate and cotton mouth, and if I took generic brand, hives and severe, all-over itchiness, so I had to take brand Adderall - which got expensive fast). I found my dose by getting the 21mg, cutting them at first into quarters and titrating up to halves. I did get some minor side effects at a half a 21mg patch, including anxiety, so I cut the size of my patch back to 1/3 patch per day. Obviously, every individual will vary, and a medical professional will be better at helping individuals find the correct dose for them (if you can find a medical professional who will agree to help you use the patch to treat ADHD).These are a cheap and effective treatment for my ADHD, and much easier to purchase and travel with in foreign countries (whereas many ADHD medications are illegal to travel with in many foreign countries). I'm also less concerned about them getting stolen or lost, since they're so much easier to replace. As an added benefit, I also don't have to find a new doctor who actually believes in adult ADHD every time I move or change insurance!Note: I do get itchy red spots wherever I have the patch (the itchiness starts about 20 minutes after I put the patch on my skin, and continues off and on throughout the day). The itchiness is pretty minimal and I don't even notice it most of the time. I am also careful to put the patch on a different part of my skin every day so that I don't irritate one patch of skin too much.
These have 100% helped me go from a pack of cigarettes a day to a couple of cigarettes a day. Almost ready to go to the lower mg. I am very impressed with how much these have helped.
I took shower and shaved the hair off the area f my upper arm and dried it well.I placed patch on an hour later while cleaning the kitchen floor I saw the patch on the floor. So what I did is took a strip of white tape made by 3M. It is used in hospitals to hold IV tubing in place in place and used that to hold the patch on all day.Since the patch is so cheap compared to other brands that's what I suggest you do to save money. The reason the patch does not stay on is the part of the patch the holds the adhesion is not WIDE enough to hold the patch in place.I say the tape is 1.5 wide and it is not costly. It's on Amazon its called 3M Medipore Soft Cloth Surgical Tape - 3" Wideper Roll you can get 2 " or 1-1/2 " do a search for that on Amazon or get it elsewhere.
At first I was disappointed with these things. I thought people must be placebo effecting these things to work because I was not feeling any different. First couple days on these and I started smoking again. I was really upset and wanted my money back. Now Ive been on them for more than a week and they are really working nicely. I hardly think about smoking. It's actually really funny because I literally never really think about when my next cig is going to be. I get a craving here and there but it usually goes away in less than a min. Im not a heavy smoker though so I cant really speak for those who are. I dont know how well it would work for really heavy smokers. Occasionally where my patch is it will get a little itchy. As for sticking all day, kind of. It's been working as long as it's not hot, tho, it is summer. Other than that I'd say it's like a band aid application so it does stick. It actually kinda hurts to take off so good luck men :) It'll be like putting a band aid on a hairy part of your body and ripping it off when its time to change. Sorry this is one of the down falls of this patch but at least you know it usually sticks well
Nicotine to your front door. What else needs to be said.
Update one: it’s day 7 and I have no cravings. Day 6 I forgot to put on the patch and still had no cravings, but put it in for day 7 anyway and will continue. The patches have started to irritate my skin, but it’s not too bad and it’s a small price to pay so I am still rating this 5 stars.I will update my review eventually, but I had to come and write how well it is working so far. I’ve been a pack a day smoker for about 9 years. I’m on day 4 of wearing the patch and I have absolutely no desire to smoke. The first day was the worst but still manageable; and every day since has gotten better. I put it on when I wake up at 5 am and take it off before I go to bed around 8 pm to avoid the crazy dreams people talk about. I put it in a different spot every time to avoid irritation, which I haven’t had any of so far. I will just cycle through the same 4-5 spots. (On my sides and stomach) I have no issues with the patch sticking. I’m SO shocked that this is working so well. The only side effect I’ve noticed is decreased appetite which I consider a bonus actually.
Today is my first day of using this product. It's been 10 hours and 20 minutes since i last smoked. I applied the product right after smoking my last stick. The first 3 hours since using the patch i was craving really bad but i held it off. I tried to distract myself from thinking about smoking. 10 hours later still thinking about smoking but the urges seem to decrease. I'm still craving but not as much as the first few hours. I can honestly say i can tolerate the craving now and the patch seem to be working. At this rate i think i have a great chance. I'd really hope this works cuz i really wanna stop smoking (been a smoker for almost 20 years). They say it's all in the mind but I'm not that strong so I need a little push from this patch and hopefully i can be a non-smoker after step 3. It's a long way to go but I'm optimistic. As far as the adhesive, it's still stuck in my chest. I purposely placed it here so there's less movement and less chance of falling off.UPDATE*** Feb. 4, 2017 TODAY i'll be starting step 2. I haven't smoked in the last 28 days since i started using these patches.
I was a smoker for 27 years and decided to quit. I set a date of 01/01/19 and did a lot of praying! January 1, 2019 rolled around and I put on a 21 mg patch. I wore the patch, as directed, with the exception of sleeping with the patch. I did remove the patch prior to going to sleep. Like I previously explained, I was a smoker for approximately 27 years and I smoked about 1 pack per day. I do not have any health issues that resulted in my quitting smoking; I quit to prevent any health issues. It is now 4 weeks later and I am pleased to say, I am still a non-smoker. I continued to wear the 21 mg patch through January 21, 2019. These patches are amazing and have truly made quitting such an easier process. I have not stopped praying and thanking God for letting me be a non-smoker because although the patches have made it a lot easier, I know God played a major role in the quitting process, as well. As a side note, I ordered the 21 mg patches for my father, whom has been smoking for approximately 54 years and smoked between 2 - 2 1/2 packs per day. It is with great pleasure that I can report he has been smoke free since January 22, 2019 and is doing great!! If you are thinking about giving up the smoking habit, with the help of patches, PLEASE do yourself a favor and use the Habitrol patches. What a difference these patches have made in my life, as well as my father's.
Good, product works well.
UPDATE: after leaving them on the shelf for a couple weeks they seem to work a little better. I have been using nicoderm but ran out so slapped one of these on and it worked better. maybe I got lucky and grabbed a patch with a little more punch. the results vary.I dont know if I maybe am not applying correctly or something is wrong with the patch. when i put on other brands at this strength there is a moment when it almost feels too strong until I get used to it. these I could put on two and not feel anything. one sign of a good patch is you will feel a little burn when you put it on. these have none of that
These are cheap and work great. Make sure you clean your skin well and drying all the way before putting them on. They stick if you’re not all dirty and sweaty. Use tape if you’re going to workout
